Best Pizza Restaurants in Kansas City

Kansas City is a great place for pizza. There's an amazing landscape of high-quality pizza places that stretches from the far south into the upper reaches of Kansas City. Whether you're craving classic pepperoni, spicy sausage, or a specialty pizza like chicken alfredo, you'll find it all.

KC pizza is primarily New York style with large pieces and thin, foldable crusts, but every restaurant does their pizzas a little differently. Which are the best pizza restaurants in Kansas City? Where can you find delicious pizza close to your Kansas City apartment? We have the inside scoop on pizza all over town.

Grinders: Pizza and Live Music

If you want a night to remember with pizza and a show, head to Grinder's on concert night. Grinder's is one of the hottest nightlife spots in town with an amazing outdoor theater space and, you guessed it, pretty good pizza. Like most local joints, their pizza is flexible NY-style with big slices and plenty of toppings. They also specialize in Philly cheesesteak sandwiches, wings, and their namesake grinder sandwiches.

Come for the pizza, stay for the vibe. The eclectic selection of beer and live music will keep you partying all night.

Pizza Tascio - NKC: Local Favorite

If you're looking for a quick lunch spot with award-winning pizza, grab your pizza by the slice or order an entire pie at Pizza Tascio - NKC. Pizza Tascio was voted KC's Favorite Pizza with three locations in Kansas City.

Pizzas are New York style made with fresh ingredients like Central Milling Organic Flour, Organic Bianco Dinapoli tomatoes, Paradise Locker Meats, and 100% whole milk mozzarella. Locals love every pizza, from the classics to the rotating specials, and they often stop in for a quick lunch or dinner. They also offer catering and food truck events.

Nick's Italian Pizza: Local Favorite

A contending rival for local pizza lovers is Nick's Italian Pizza, run by Nick himself. The prices are great, the slices are huge, and everything is delicious. Nick's serves hot, fresh New York-style pizza that the locals rave about. You can also build out your order with other simple Italian and lunch window classics like fries, mozz sticks, fried shrimp, garlic bread, salads, and wings.

For lunch variety, they also offer lasagna, hot sandwiches and subs, and a tasty selection of pasta, including spaghetti with meatballs, chick parm, and cheese ravioli.

Bella Napoli: Authentic Napoli Italian Style

If you're craving classic Italian Napoli pizza instead of the NY style that you'll find in most KC pizza spots, check out Bella Napoli. The vibe is more formal, with breezy terrace tables for outdoor dining.

Bella Napoli pizza crust is thick and fluffy and tastes mostly of freshly baked flour. The flavor comes out in the authentic cheese and fresh topping ingredients that make every pizza unique. Bella Napoli is there for those who love real Italian cuisine, but it might not be what you expect if you're used to Americanized "Napolian" pizzerias.

There's also a lovely selection of classic Italian restaurant options besides the pizza, like pasta, formaggi,  and an elegant selection of wines.

Southside Mafia Pizza: Best Chicago Style

Craving Chicago-style pizza? Head to Southside Mafia Pizza on the (you guessed it) south end of Kansas City. It's a little out of the way, but oh-so-worth-it for that flavorful deep-dish crust swimming in cheese and toppings. Skip the Old Chicago chain, they stopped serving Deep Dish a while ago. Take it from locals who love pizza: Southside Mafia is the single best place for Chicago-style pizza in Kansas City.

In addition to classics, you can get pesto pizza, alfredo pizza, and build your own from everything on the menu. Or fold it into a calzone for a hand pie you can walk out with.

The wings are equally mind-blowing (and very hot). Bonus: There are Halal pizza options.

Stone Canyon Pizza: Great Pizza Close to Home

Last but not least is Stone Canyon Pizza. If you live in Northland Kansas City like we do in Nori Apartments, then your go-to pizza place will probably become Stone Canyon Pizza. It's a six-minute drive or about a half-hour walk if you're feeling brisk. There is terrace dining, arcade games in the front,  and a delicious thick-crust style loaded with toppings that is hard to find in this pizza town.

It's more Chicago-style than most places, complete with specials like chili cheese fries, cheesy garlic bread, pasta, stacked sandwiches, beer, wine, and chip dip to make any evening meal complete. Then top off your meal with freshly baked cookies and rotating cakes, and take the leftovers home for more.
